Choosing a Niche Market

Whether you decide to build a blog or website, you need to know what to look for when you’re choosing a niche market.
You definitely want to look for something you have an interest in and enjoy. Believe me, you don’t want to be researching and writing on topics that are boring to you.
Your next step would be to research whether your niche is of interest to enough people to make it worth your while. In other words, if there are enough people searching for that niche on the search engines and not too many sites or blogs who are providing information on it, it’s a winner.
Watch out for niches that are too competitive, like weight loss or dating sites. You’ll start out at the bottom of the search results and it will take a lot of hard work to get to the top. You can still make money online with less competitive niches.
To research whether it’s a good niche or not, check the Google Adwords keyword tool. You want to see what people are searching for when you punch in the keyword for your favorite niche. The tool will also suggest keywords to use for your niche if your keyword comes up with low results.
If you’re still stumped, try going to your favorite sites in that niche and right click on the home page. You’ll see a bunch of html code. What you want to look for is “keywords” and see what they’ve got plugged in there. You can try those keywords in the Google keyword tool and see what comes up.
You can go to the choosing a niche market page if you want to know how to find the hot trends in niches right now.

Great advice. I think that we should all blog about things we are passionate about. Having to blog about something that we do not have interest in will not only be boring, but at the end of the day, I am convinced that the possibility of success will be limited. Bottom line, find the topic you like, research about it and then blog about it.
